AFEP member companies have been engaged for many years in putting CSR at the heart of their strategies and operations. Based on this experience, they have submitted their proposals on sustainable governance and due diligence to the EU Commission in the context of its public consultation.
- Company law is not the best way to deal with Corporate governance. This subject should be better addressed through a recommendation to Member States in order to be easily suited to the specific situations of each company.
- AFEP member companies support the principle of a due diligence. However, it is crucial to define the obligations precisely in order to guarantee legal certainty and a level playing field between European and non-European companies.
